Most
commonly spotted nowadays in the world of Civic tuning
are the ever-most popular hatchbacks. Even iSS can't
deny the amount of hatchbacks that we've featured in the
past several months...so we decided to whip up a change
for once. Jacob's Coupe has gone through a lot of
changes prior to reaching the stage it's at now, and many
of you all in Florida have probably spotted this car at
shows throughout our state.
Recently,
Jacob's car underwent some major exterior changes.
The most obvious thing is the custom Madd Green Paint
that has been sprayed all over the body of the car.
CTR headlights along with factory fogs light up the street.
J's Racing Canards were added to the front bumper for
a different taste, along with the Mugen front lip to accent
the front bumper's natural lines. Up on the side,
Jacob kept it clean and simple with Spoon Mirrors, and
around the rear of the car is a subtle M3 spoiler and
rear factory lip.
Suspension
mods consist of Ground Control Coilovers backed up with
Tokico Shocks. On four corners are Volk GT-C wheels
in gunmetallic fashion, with AEM's 12" big brake upgrade
behind the rims. The rear received a GS-R disc conversion.
To stiffen up the rest of the suspension, Jacob threw
on a rear strut bar along with a stock Si rear sway bar.
There are many variations
to juice out the power from a Civic. Jacob went
with the ever-most popular 99 Si B16 motor with a custom
turbo kit by Turbo Performance. JE pistons on Eagle
rods line up the block, while a Blockguard reinsures the
boost. 450cc injectors were added to reinforce the
extra fuel and ignition is handled by none other than
Jacob's electronics ignition and MSD wires with coil.
A JDM valve cover cleans up the engine bay, along with
the GReddy catch can. Little amenities include a
Spoon radiator cap, and Mugen "socks".
The
interior of the coupe follows the same fashion as the
rest of the car. Simple, effective, yet clean.
A CTR gauge cluster was swapped out in place of a stock
unit, along with a CTR shift boot matched to a GReddy
shift knob. An S2000 steering wheel really sets
this Civic away from the commonplace ones. Gauges
include an Autometer air fuel gauge, volts gauge and the
most important, boost gauge. Seating has been supplemented
with Sparco Milanos with Sparco harnesses to keep Jacob
buckled down. A V-AFC has been installed for VTEC
and Air Fuel control. Car audio comes from a Sony
MEX-1HD head unit, along with front and rear Polk Audio
mids and highs. An 8" Kicker Solobaric supplies
the bass, while a Kicker amp supplies the power.
Interview with
Jacob:
1.
We've seen your car come and go with different body kits.
Was there any specific kit that you liked better than
the others? I think the Kaminari kit was my favorite,
although I only had it for about two weeks.
2. These days you
can't enter to a show with a stock color, so you opted
for a greenish type of color? Where did you get your idea
for that green? I looked through a color chart at a friends
body shop and that was that. No particular reason other
then the color caught my attention. Madd Green is the
shit.
3.
Most people like to go for more power, so they go with
a B18c, why did you go for a B16 Vs a B18c? Actually I
knew whichever motor I got would eventually be boosted
someday so when I came across a B16 I couldn't pass up
the chance.
4. When we here at
iSS attend car shows we see an abundance of civic coupes,
do you think the scene is becoming harder for coupes to
get noticed? I think that the majority of shows are getting
harder to compete in for Civics in general but that just
makes me work harder and try to separate me from the rest.
5. Okay what's the
deal with Stitch? Is that your idol? Yeah he's my American
Idol.
6. If your car was
on fire what item would you take? Stitch.
7. Okay now who do
you want to say thanks to: I would like to give props
to JDMotorsports (Jared) for the great job on my motor,
For Hybrids, Miamijdm, and last but not least my wife
Natacha for putting up with me.
