"The
name may get you in the door, but it is the quality of
your experience that will bring you back"
Don and Dave Shula
The
King at Shula's Steakhouse is nothing less than the 48-ounce
porterhouse. Alsong with Certified Angus Beef, the restaurant's
reputation has been built on serving the "biggest
and the best". If generous portions are what you
are looking for, such as a signature 48-ounce porterhouse
steak, then come to Shula's. Yes, you heard right, a 48-ounce!!
If you can finish the whole 48-ounces, you will belong
to a club that, to date, has over 18,800 members. Members
are able to view their name and how many times they ate
the 48-ounce steak on the website at: www.donshula.com.
According to the Don Shula Web site, the club was formed
in 1989 as a way of "honoring true beef lovers of
America." And honored they are!! Members' names are
engraved on plaques that hang in the restaurant and all
receive a photograph of the famed coach. What more incentive
to wolf that baby down?
As
we would all expect, the theme for Shula's Steak House
is a virtual museum of the 1972 Miami Dolphins' 17-0 perfect
season, the NFL's only unbeaten team. The décor
includes pictures and game balls from the '72 season.
The menus are hand painted on NFL footballs then personally
hand signed by Coach Shula himself.
Aside
from the porterhouse, you will find the standard items
on the menu, such as, filet mignon, prime rib, Maine lobster,
creamed spinach, hash browns and a lot more.
As
if being the winningest coach in NFL history wasn't enough,
the great service and atmosphere, along with the 48-ounce
porterhouse, puts Shula's in a league of his own.
This
is a serious steakhouse, at very serious prices. Entree
prices (which range from $18.95-$65.95) are printed on
the football menu, but nothing else is. Side orders cost
$4-8. Prices are not volunteered for appetizers, salads,
vegetables, or desserts.
